Kitesurfing in Weymouth
A windy day in Weymouth is not too surprising because we are on the coast. However, the bay shelters us from westerly winds behind the Isle of Portland, while the Ridgeway protects us from the North. Across the water, cliffs and hills hide the town from most Easterly storms (except for this year!)
The bay is wide and open with shallow water so, when it is windy, it is the ideal spot for windsurfers and kitesurfers to practice their skills. Jetski riders venture out beyond the Harbour entrance and jump between wave crests. We spectators just watch and feel grateful we are keeping warm and dry!
